Today I wanna be an artist

Published by maxiegirl at 2:49 pm under Feeding the brain, Pleasure Edit This

Today I wanna be an artist.  I want to get out my watercolors and make mysterious splashes on the paper.  I want to paint something beautiful, something mysterious, something that will make my kids say “Mom did that?”

I have a painting in progress.  (The bird isn’t it.) It’s weird and I love it because it’s weird.  It has stripes and strings of Mask-It all over it right now.  Mask-It keeps the watercolor off of that part of the paper.  It’s kind of guaranteed white space.

On this paper I’ve drawn a woman’s face.  She’s delicately colored and her eyes are turquoise.  Her face is surrounded by colors.  Is it hair or is it not?  It’s just mysterious.  I’m having a great time painting it.  I want it to be good, but this is a first time.  Not all art is good or even spectacular the first time out.  Most of the time you have to waste a lot of paper trying to get it just right.

I don’t care about the paper.  I just want it to be interesting.  (That’s the word people use sometimes when they don’t particularly like it, but they don’t want to hurt your feelings.)

Anyway, I wanted to show you  one of my paintings.  It’s a bird on the seashore.  That’s just so you don’t have to be polite and guess what it is.

Enjoy.

Great painting of the bird. I especially like the reflection. And of course I knew it was a bird before you said so!!! :)

Have you considered using this bird or one of your artwork on the header of your blog?

You piqued my curiosity about the woman’s face and surrounding colors. Are we gonna get to see that one next?

I’m still working on the woman’s face. It’s a stretch for me to do this and I haven’t quite got it right.

I’ll change my blog from time to time and it will probably include some of my artwork.

    Thanks for visiting.
