Eating Chinese. Is it good for you?
I was reading the other day that Chinese food isn’t necessarily good for you. Oh really! Think of the tiny nibbles of meat, all the vegetables, the sushi! Are they telling me this isn’t good for me?
I had Chinese buffet for lunch today. I filled my plate with samplings of mushrooms and chicken, shrimp and vegetables, two kinds of sushi (with ginger), vegetables with tofu, mushrooms with chicken, one piece of orange chicken, a very pretty bun with something yummy in the middle, a spring roll, you know the good things. I also drank an entire pot of hot tea.
I have no idea what makes the tea so good in a Chinese restaurant. Maybe it’s the number of pots they make every day that makes them expert. I always suspect it’s the type of tea they put in the pot.
So, what’s wrong with what I ate?
- Well, the number of cookies I ate after the meal is one thing. (I held back on you.)
- Another thing for me is the sugar they put in sauces and things that makes them taste so good.
- Let’s not forget the amount of food I ate. Even good food in large quantities will make you fat.
I love Chinese buffets for the choices they offer. Don’t like shrimp? Well, have something similar with chicken. The variety seems endless and all of it is appealing to me. Well, let’s discount the octopus, the squid, and other things I didn’t have a name for, but what looked yuk. There’s enough food that I like on the buffet tables to feed me for a week of more.
So, tummy full and content, I am off to do some watercolor of an exotic sort. It’s a new task and one I look forward to. Have a good day.

I envy yanjiaren the Chinese buns. I love the bao stuffed with pork. Most of the Chinese buffets near me don’t make them. Sniff!
